Born and raised in Hai Hau, Nam Dinh — a region renowned for its tradition of academic excellence — Mr. Vu Van Thanh has forged an entrepreneurial journey defined by extraordinary resilience and inspiration. Coming from a farming family, throughout his university years (majoring in Accounting, enrolled in 2008), he supported himself through every kind of work imaginable — from selling fish and fruit to manual labor — all to nurture his dream of transforming his life through knowledge.

With the firm belief that knowledge is the “key” to changing one’s destiny, after graduating from university, he pursued advanced professional training at Cass Business School (now Bayes Business School) — one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious business schools. Overcoming language barriers and financial hardships abroad, after three years of studying overseas, he built a solid foundation of expertise in finance, logistics, and information technology

In 2015, rather than remaining in the United Kingdom with its abundant opportunities, Mr. Vu Van Thanh chose to return to Vietnam, driven by his aspiration to contribute his intellect to his homeland. He took on the role of financial specialist at Dai Dung Trading and Construction Mechanical Joint Stock Company (DDC), where he successfully applied technology to management and design, helping DDC become a pioneering enterprise in adopting technology within the pre-engineered steel construction industry in Vietnam.

In 2017, with a strategic vision and an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit, he founded Vu Phuc Thanh Co., Ltd. — the predecessor of SPHACY Joint Stock Company today. By 2018, the company was officially rebranded as SPHACY (S: Smart, Phacy: Pharmacy). The letter “S” represents the S-shaped map of Vietnam, the serpent — the universal symbol of the pharmaceutical industry — and the lotus petal, Vietnam’s national flower, embodying national pride and the ambition to elevate a Vietnamese brand to the international stage.

Under the leadership of Mr. Vu Van Thanh, SPHACY is built upon three pillars: “Technology – Pharmaceuticals – Health,” with the mission of applying technology to the pharmaceutical distribution industry to address pressing challenges: counterfeit drugs, substandard medications, products of untraceable origin, drug shortages, and the rising threat of antimicrobial resistance

He has built SPHACY into a comprehensive digital solutions ecosystem serving the entire pharmaceutical supply chain — from manufacturers and distributors to pharmacies and consumers — creating a transparent and efficient drug supply model.

Mr. Vu Van Thanh is not only a successful entrepreneur but also a leader who places great value on people and social responsibility. He ensures the best possible welfare for his employees and is committed to never delaying salaries or defaulting on social insurance contributions, regardless of the company’s circumstances.

Each year, SPHACY organizes charitable missions to remote and underserved areas as well as border defense stations, donating medicine, water filtration systems, and essential supplies to local communities and soldiers. For him, building wealth is not about displaying material possessions but about creating value for society.
